Many leaders find conversations about performance to be difficult and too often avoid them altogether.  Providing feedback, particularly when a team member’s performance falls short of expectations is one of the most critical functions a leader performs.  Yet for many this is one of the most dreaded and avoided.

This program enables participants to develop skills and confidence in holding these conversations in an easy and comfortable environment.  Participants are provided opportunities to engage with a new and contemporary approach.  They will prepare for effective performance conversations in their workplace.

    Faces of the Fleurieu
Join us as we hear from three inspirational women in local government who are all currently working within organisations on the Fleurieu Peninsula, as they share their perspectives on their experiences and how they have harnessed their superpowers.

    Jodie Summer
    Director of Corporate Services
    District Council of Yankalilla

Jodie Summer, a passionate and dynamic professional, forged her path through commerce and leadership with unwavering determination. Guided by her mother's keen eye for numbers, Jodie's journey began at PwC, where a pivotal secondment to Brisbane sparked her passion for innovation in financial solutions.

Transitioning to SA Ambulance Service, Jodie rose to leadership, managing a finance team at just 22. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Jodie completed her Chartered Accountant program while on maternity leave, showcasing her commitment to personal and professional growth.

As a Chartered Accountant, she ventured into diverse sectors, including international development with Motivation Australia and impactful roles at RSPCA, where she championed Lean principles of management and cost-saving initiatives. Her unexpected transition to local government, following her instrumental role in a merger, reflects her adaptability and strategic foresight.

Beyond the office, Jodie's focus and determination shine through her athletic pursuits, from conquering open water swimming challenges to representing her state in CrossFit as a Masters Athlete.

As Jodie prepares to inspire at the upcoming forum, she embodies the essence of "My Superpower," urging others who aspire to harness their innate gifts and unleash their fullest potential upon little old Adelaide, South Australia, and the world.

    Kath Messner
    Team Leader Library Services
    District Council of Yankalilla

Kath Messner has managed to enjoy some amazing moments during a diverse and long career working across the country. She considers her colleagues and the close connection that comes from working with communities as highlights of her working life. After considerable time mulling this over, her superpower is the ability to embrace change and always be true to her authentic self.

What started as a volunteer position in a local country council just down the road became a stint in State Government on the Yorke Peninsula, which eventually morphed into a world-class desert adventure. Following this, a change of direction and states found Kath enjoying rainforests, small children, school libraries, and sourdough, sprinkles of kindness, and supporting families in strife.

Kath’s career went full circle when she returned home to the Fleurieu Peninsula and back into LibraryLand, an amazing place for all who seek! She welcomes you to the best-kept secret of the south, our patch, surrounded by natural beauty, where she will reflect on connections, opportunities, and the support of women along her journey.

    Amy Schmid
    Team Leader Customer Experience
    Alexandrina Council

She then transitioned to the City of Charles Sturt as a Customer Experience Officer before advancing to her current role at Alexandrina Council as Team Leader of Customer Experience at the age of 25.

Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, Amy recognises the integral role her team plays within the council and for the community. Beyond her professional life, Amy leads a busy personal life, raising two lively toddlers and enjoying the oceanside lifestyle in the coastal town of Middleton.
