The Network is open to all LG Professionals SA members working in the field of community development and community services in local government and allied sectors. It has been established following broad consultation with community sector managers in a range of rural and metropolitan Councils in late 2006 and became a Network of LG Professionals SA in 2010.Manager's emerging issues were consistently focused around the value of a professional network that has education and support as its cornerstone.
Some of its inaugural developments have been -
Compilation of a comprehensive community managers' database across all Councils in SA
Conduct of the 'Phoenix Rising' seminar in February 2006 addressing Sustainable Community Development in Local Government
Active representation on the National Local Government Community Development & Services Association of Australia
Representation on LG Professionals SA Presidents' Forum
Establishment of an active formal working link with LGA (SA).
We aim to -
Promote networking and professional development opportunities
Act as a professional community sector group i.e. one from whom the LGA, State or Commonwealth Governments may seek comment on policy issues.
Represent South Australia on the Local Government Community Development & Services Association of Australia, thus providing further networking on issues/best practice in Australia and overseas including promotion of the National Community Sector Conference.
